April 2021 - Monthly Round Up

We celebrated the lovely month of April with a series of sync success, an abundance of fantastic new music and some exciting collaborations.

There was great news for Fauves this month with their track 'Wither Away' picked up and placed with BT Sport on Scottish Football Extra. A wonderful moment for our in-house record label First Run Records with it's first synchronisation.

The good news continued on the sync front with our writer Mark McGowan's track 'Bones' landing on NBC's 'Council of Dads'. The episode 'Heart Medicine' also featured music from Leon Bridges & Andra Day.

It was a busy month for our recent signing Stuart McInnes. His collaboration with Elio Deejay & EMIAH 'Cruel Intentions' was given the remix treatment and you can check those out here.

He also demonstrated his exceptional vocal production and programming skills on James Blucks' re-work on JoJo's 'Leave (Get Out)' which landed on some Spotify editorial playlists including Friday Funday and New Dance Beats.

In addition, Stuart has writing and performing credits on the brand new RCA release 'Good On You' with Alex Hobson & Talia Mar. It amassed over 700k streams, numerous radio plays and all within its first two weeks of release.

Stuart has been in back-to-back writing sessions working really hard collaborating with songwriters and artists over the world.

Our writers Christian Boshell & Brian Cody collectively known as Phraktal had an exciting month all building up to the release of their album 'Nightwalk' out this Friday on Limbo Black. Singles 'Cabal', 'Look Inside' & 'Forbidden' have received high praise from the likes of Nick Warren & John Digweed. You can check out the Irish-duo's mysterious avant-techno releases here.

More action on our in-house label Limbo in the form of Israeli progressive pioneer and 23rd Precinct writer Choopie who's fantastic rendition of the 94' classic 'Funk De Fino' was released this month. A real throwback for those who have followed the Limbo brand since its inception in 1993.

New 23rd Precinct signing Tim French made his debut on Limbo Records with his original track 'Pictures'. With a package that included remixes from Nick Muir and Phraktal, this release packs a progressive punch and we're sure to hear more from Tim in the future.

Our writer Bobby Bluebell's writing skills were once again shown in a glowing light with his co-write for Texas' 'Mr Haze'. A track which is everything you'd expect from one of Scotland's finest musical exports of the past 20 years - Texas deliver another upbeat, horn-infused and glorious anthem. A superlative follow up to their collaboration with Wu-Tang Clan on 'Hi'.

Trance-techno artist and producer Jardin Owens was back on GO Records with his high energy brain buster 'Say Nothing'. Jardin demonstrating trance at it's very best, check it out here.

Mr. Sosa is fast becoming one of the hottest names in UK Dance. His fantastic productions skills and inventive tracks. This month marked his debut on Sasha's Last Night On Earth label with 'Coco Drum'. It's raced up the Beatport Electronica chart and currently sits at #12.

Richie Blacker continued on his path for world domination with a series of plays on BBC Radio 1 courtesy of long-term supporter Danny Howard. Richie's debut solo release on his self-proclaimed dream label came to fruition. '2 Late 4 Love' marks a real moment for Richie who's been signed to us for a number of years. His perseverance, passion and talent is taking centre stage this year and we couldn't be happier for him and his team.

The last day of the month brought another lovely remix for Richie - this time making his debut on Yousef's label Circus Recordings. 'Inside Out (Richie Blacker Remix)' by Denney & Just Her.

23rd Precinct's Ryan Sewell released 'Don't Hold Back' - a vocal house track with Bubs & Yvrh released on Alex Preston's Basement Sounds. Check it out here.

Ciaran McEneny has been busy working alongside the team at Magicbox, Dundee and recently showcased his piano and guitar work on Scottish pop star Be Charlotte's track 'we are burning'.

Our very own Billy Kiltie & Kayleigh Robin presented an absolutely scorcher of a show as part of Groove City Radio's new expanded programme. The '23rd Precinct Radio Show' debut welcomed throwbacks to the Bath Street record shop days right up to the most cutting edge new music. You can listen back to the show here.
