August 2020 - Monthly Round Up

As we (unbelievable) slip into September, we take a look back at what has been another incredibly busy month for our 23rd Precinct writers.

A BBC Radio 1 World Exclusive play was a much welcomed return to the airwaves for our in-house label Limbo Records. Danny Howard's support came for our writer Richie Blacker's sensational adaptation of the '93 classic 'I Trance You' by Gypsy. The good news of Radio 1 support has been quickly followed by placements in Music Week's Upfront & Cool Cuts Charts. 'I Trance You [Richie Blacker Rave Remix] is out soon on Limbo Records, but in the meantime check out the original.

There was more great news in our other in-house label First Run Records. With Glasgow art pop sextet Fauves claiming a spot on Spotify's coveted New Music Friday playlist. There was also support from Tenement TV, BBC Rapal, Á Rock Radio, Amazing Radio & BlogNRoll amongst others. Check out the single 'F' available on all major streaming platforms.

The start of August seems so long ago but it was a great start to the month when dance music connoisseur Carl Cox, played our writer Kresimir Rebac aka Kreso's new track 'Third Gear' in his BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix. 'Third Gear' is part of a 3 track EP out now on Airborne Black.

Two of our latest signings Scott Forshaw & Elliot Chapman also released new music. Firstly Scott released 'Run It Up' alongside long running producing partner Greg Stainer. In addition, Scott was also a featured artist on Jackard's late August release Simma Black Vol. 8 compilation with 'La Noche'. Whilst Elliot Chapman's co-write with American writer, artist Devon Rea resulted in the release of 'Hooked' - a resounding catchy smooth soulful number you can check out here.

Our writer Alan La Porte released new music under his Covenants alias. A fresh collaboration with vocalist River led to the atmospheric dance pop smash 'Back 2 U'. With a premiere on Hardwell's 'On Air' radio show, the track was released mid-month on his Gemstone label.

Choopie released new music in collaboration with Sharkieboy. The three-track Pango EP was released on our writer Choopie's label Agnosia Songs and has gained support from the likes of FSOE's Paul Thomas. You can download the EP here.

Another busy month came and went for our Northern Irish writer Ryan Sewell. With a plethora of releases already under his belt this year - August seen him team up with Matt Kerley for a release on Blackhole Recordings imprint - Force Of Habit. 'The Wall' is a tech house banger. Ryan was also featured in a new remix of his 'Motown Drums' track with Cashmere. This time with Noski & Delafino on remix duties.

The aforementioned Simma Black compilation also featured new music from our writers Ryan Sewell, Alan La Porte & Stephen Kirkwood - coming in the form of 'Faith' - Covenants, Rion S & 'Big Phat Bass' - Steve Schmuck respectively. More new music came from our writer Stephen Kirkwood under the moniker Mavairic and a debut EP on Future Sounds Of Egypt. The two track 'Piece Of Me' EP is a deep dark progressive journey and available to download here. Not content with two releases in a month, Stephen also released an adaptation of Nati Dredd's TikTok viral smash 'Phonin The Cooncil'.

We were so pleased to see and hear the rekindled collaboration of our writers Ben Macklin & Emma Brammer. The pair has teamed up on numerous tracks and this latest offering 'Stay With Me' is another stunning display of songwriting & production. Check out 'Stay With Me' out now via Modal Recordings.

There was also new music from emerging singer-songwriter Charlie Sanderson. His collaborative project with new artist Loose Lip provided us an unquestionable anthem in 'Found It'. With an official video coming soon, we're excited to watch this one fly.

One of our longest standing writer, producers David Forbes released new music on the last Friday of the month. 'Splice' will blow the dust off your weekends - a hard thumping tech-trance number which has been supported by Armin Van Burren on his 'A State Of Trance' radio show. David was also featured in Spotify's curated Trance Mission playlist with his track 'Timewarp'.
