January 2021 - Monthly Round Up

Can you believe it? The first month of 2021 over just like that. We'd like to take this opportunity to wish everyone health & happiness for the year ahead. Much like 2020, it's looking like it's going to be a rough ride but we will get through it - we'd like to extend a huge thanks once again to all those key workers who continue to grind daily and keep us going #ThankYou

January started with a band and the release of new music from recent signee Toby Woodhouse who is known under the alias Mr. Sosa. His two track EP 'Zealous/Ocean Drive' was released on Elation Industries. The end of the month brought us some extra joy with fellow 23rd Precinct Music signee Richie Blacker on remix duties. His 'Zealous (Peel Me Off The Ceiling Remix) debuted on Danny Howard's BBC Radio 1 show on Friday night to a rapturous response from audiences. Check out the remix here.

It was a momentous month for Richie Blacker as it was announced he had been selected as a 'Future Fire' artist for 2021 by BBC Radio 1. A truly magnificent achievement and a testament to Richie's hard work over the years. We so pleased and honoured to have him as part of our team at 23rd and can't wait to see what 2021 has in store for the pioneering producer.

There was new music from our writer/producers Luke Hayes, Rhys Buckley and Fran Cosgrave collectively known as Futuristic Polar Bears. The trio collaborated with Corey James and Møøne resulting in pop banger 'Aura' which was released on EDM heavyweight Protocol Recordings. Not content with one release, the prolific producing trio teamed up with Dutch artist Justin Prime on power-house big room track 'United We Stand'. Released on Futuristic Polar Bears own label CMMD Records.

Our writer Nina Schofield released brand new music 'Not Perfect Now'. The self-penned and produced single was picked up by BBC Introducing in the week of it's release. Nina also released a fantastic official video on her YouTube channel, of which she has over 115k subscribers. Check out the video here.

Frank Farrell, our highly acclaimed songwriter/producer, mixing & mastering engineer made his debut in the Music Week charts this month. His cowrite on track 'Nowhere Left To Hide' with tech house legend and Toolbox Records head honcho, Nik Denton made it to #21 on the Upfront chart - a fantastic achievement. There was more music with Frank's songwriting credits courtesy of a remix package for 'Nowhere Left To Hide' which you can check out here.

One of dance music's most celebrated artists Carl Cox also opened his Beatport x NYE party set with Frank's remix of 'Dip It Raw' - a track which he co-wrote again with Nik Denton. Check out this set here,

23rd Precinct's Stuart McInnes and Emma Whyte released their first track of 2021. 'Cruel Intentions', a collaboration with Elio DeeJay was released on PM Recordings. The dynamic duo have an incredible writing partnership and have shown time and time again their skill level to match the best songwriters out there at the moment. There was more good news later in the month when their track 'Casual' - a collaborative track with 23rd Precinct's Tom Hall was synced on Channel 4's 'Celebs Go Dating' and you can watch the track in action via this link.

Our long running signed writer Choopie released 'Chilling Moments' earlier this month. A collaborative project with fellow Israeli producer Smhuel Flash - which has topped Beatport progressive house charts in its first weeks. Choopie also featured in Progressive Astronaut this month, check out the feature length interview here.

There was new music from our writer/producer/artist Mark Sherry released 'I'm Not A Robot'. Released on his own record label Outburst Records, check out this trance masterpiece here.

David Forbes released a truly stellar track in 'Chameleon' - techno, power-house acid and just down right filthy, this latest release from David was released on his own record label Aria Digital. Check it out here.

Aside from releases, we were busy as always behind the scenes; setting up co-writing sessions and pitching to labels, management companies and music supervisor.

We are pleased to announce the exclusive songwriting agreement signing of Charlie Sanderson. We've had the pleasure of working with Charlie on a single song basis for a couple of years and we are pleased to welcome him to the 23rd Precinct family on a fully basis.

In addition we are pleased to extend our publishing partnership with Emma Brammer who's songwriting prowess has seen her work with the likes of Satin Jackets, Duett, Alex Hook and Duett.

Finally we welcomed Jessica Alici to our publishing roster - a household name in the trance world with a number of incredible releases to her name. We're pleased to be working with Jessica and looking forward to developing her songwriting in this year and beyond.
