May 2022 - Monthly Round Up

You guessed it! It's been another stacked month at 23rd Precinct HQ - with the return of our monthly networking nights in Glasgow, writing sessions galore and more exceptional releases from our talented roster of writers and producers.

Bournemouth-based producer Mr. Sosa had arguably the biggest month of his career to date. Toby Woodhouse is an emerging producer who works under the alias Mr. Sosa and his rise in the past 12 months has been nothing short of remarkable. This month he celebrated the release of his EP 'Floating' - a 6 track EP which has captured the support of BBC Introducing's Jaguar and others. Mr. Sosa's growing profile is turning heads in the electronic community and his unshakable productions are a breath of fresh air. He also celebrated the release of a collaboration with one of his idols', Sasha. 'Who U Are' was released on Sasha's imprint Last Night On Earth as part of their LNOE TEN, Vol. II'.

Alix Robson lend her writing and vocal credentials on the new King Topher record 'Hands Up'. Catchy with its repetitive lyrics and phat tech house bass - we're putting a bet on this filling club dancefloors across the world.

Other great news for Alix Robson as we confirmed a slot for her on a Danish writing camp in collaboration with TG Publishing, taking place next month.

Our in-house record label First Run Records had a busy month of releases with Scottish pop R&B artist C4SUAL releasing 'OUT OF FASHION' , a follow up to 2020's 'LOVELIFE'. C4SUAL is the brainchild of 23rd Precinct writer Callum McConville and this latest release was co-written with fellow Scot Louis Wyzgowski who operates under the moniker 'Pocket'. You can check out the live video for 'OUT OF FASHION' on YouTube here.

Dale Easson and Harry Crossan better know as the duo BETA WAVES also released new music on First Run Records this month. The electronic duo recently signed to our imprint and have impressed with their unique blend of warped electronica, funk and indie. Their latest installment '& DANCE' is out now.

Our writer/vocalist Sarah-Jane Johnson was back on the release wagon this month teaming up with Notting Hill's Simon Paul Pursell on 'Over You (The 90s Anthem)'. Authentic power-house trance with soaring vocals written and delivery by Sarah-Jane. Our now on Lifting Force Records.

Not a month goes by without us mentioning Stuart McInnes. May brought around the release of 'What I Do' by Leandro Da Silva & Litening. Another great track added to Stuart's ever growing repertoire of music. This one landed in some lovely editorial playlists including New Music Friday NL, Feeling Good Feeling Great & New In Dance.

Elliot Chapman & Stuart Braybrooke are two of our writers who really bring out the best in one another. The pair co-wrote the funkadelic 'Got 2 Get On Up' released this month on Midnight Riot. Former 23rd signee Tom Caruso on production duties here and sumptuous remixes delivered by Yam Who? & Mark Brickman.

Metal trio Wraiths released more music - 'Blood In Blood Out' , is ferociously powerful. Teaming up with Yes Dragon on this one, the 23rd Precinct Music trio of James Allan, Neil Skinner and Colin McKellar are harnessing some of The Prodigy's infamous energy and antiestablisment attitude.

Did we mention we've got the world's biggest selling trance artist David Forbes on our roster? This month he dropped 'Density' on Outburst Records. This one will have you jumping around like a lunatic with its nightmarish synths unruly BPM.

Radio 1 support was flying in this month - not just for Mr. Sosa but our Belfast electronica pioneer Richie Blacker and his latest release 'Unified / Atlantis'. The latter receiving support on primetime Friday night Radio 1 courtesy of Sarah Story and subsequently released on long term supporting and close friend Skream's of Unsound Mind label.

Another bit of Radio 1 support was much welcomed when Scottish rising star Hannah Laing played her brand new collaboration with 23rd's Stephen Kirkwood as part of her peak time mix on Friday nights dance show. The track titled 'Don't Wanna Go' is unreleased but will be unleashed to the masses very soon. You can listen back to the BBC Radio 1 show here.

Essex based writer/artist Charlie Sanderson was back this month - with a collaboration with Big Lee resulting in the euphoric pop dance anthem of 'I Can't Sleep'. Charlie's been working with fellow 23rd signee Scott Forshaw on new music and excited to say there's an incoming record on Notting Hill label NHM LLC later this year. Watch this space.

Speaking of Scott Forshaw, he teamed up with LAWZ and released the tech-house banger 'Milkshake' on Goodside Records. Another quality addition to our catalogue and it's cheeky energy and one which will certainly be getting blasted out at Scott's residency at Dubai's Barista Beach Club. There's more music lined up for this summer with releases on Escape Records and NHM LLC still to come.

Ryan Sewell had another busy month, working on a couple of exciting projects to be announced. 'Lost & Found' was the first release of the month teaming up with Altra Moda head honcho Boris Smit and Housequake. A solid vocal house track which landed in a number of Spotify editorial playlists. Ryan quickly followed that up with a release on Armada Music. 'Brainstorm' is a raw spunky and mighty groovy house track in collaboration with Lee Cabera and Dean Micksoki.

In amongst all these incredible releases there was sold out shows for 23rd's Danko, the return of our popular networking nights in Glasgow and running shows including the likes of Stereo MCs.
