November 2020 - Monthly Round Up

We're closing the doors on yet another incredibly busy month for 23rd Precinct Music Publishing. With over 25 releases from 23rd Precinct songwriters this month, November has proved a fruitful 30 day period with a string of national radio plays & editorial playlist spots.

Our songwriter/producer/artist Alix Robson has been working unbelievably hard since her signing with 23rd at the very beginning of 2020. This month she released 'Want You', a collaboration with co-writing partner Cameron Soper & Dutch producer Voost. We set Alix up with Brian Provoost (Voost) during lockdown, and we were so pleased to see Chill Your Mind select this track for release. It's had a sensational start landing in numerous Spotify editorial playlists and amassing 700k streams in 3 short weeks.

There was more great news as Alix released 'With You' a collaboration with Tom Hall later in the month. This track was written by 23rd Precinct's Tom Hall, Anita Moore & Alix last year and has been in the pipeline for release for some time. It was great to finally get this pop-tastic banger out into the world courtesy of Good Company subsidiary Get Together Records. Great to see Alix's cowriting and vocal skills on full display this month with both of these tracks.

Richie Blacker, one of the UK's fasted rising dance acts was back at it with his supersonic 90s inspired breakbeat rave weapons. This month saw him debut on BBC Radio1's Danny Howards own imprint Nothing Else Matters label. A stream of recent support from Danny has landed Richie's tracks primetime slots across BBC Radio1's dance shows. His latest release 'Hysteria' was no different, landing plays from Danny & Pete Tong as well as a sea of support across numerous other networks.

Our writer/producer Alan La Porte had another busy month with his Covenants project. Earlier this month, his collaboration with Elyza 'Second Nature' was released on Blackhole Recordings sub-label Gameroom Recordings. This track has sprinklings of a darker, more mysterious side of Covenants. A follow up for Alan on Gameroom Records is set for 11th December and 'Dominoes' which you can pre-order here.

Alan's collaboration with 23rd Precinct's Ryan Sewell - 'Give Me Flames' also got a new lease of life with it's inclusion in EGO In Mexico 2020 compilation. The comp includes tracks by Benny Benassi, Claptone, Sofi Tukker and is available exclusively on iTunes here.

Speaking of Ryan Sewell, it was another intensely busy month of the release calendar for Ryan. The first of which was a progressive collaboration with 23rd Precinct's Harley Sanders. 'Awakenings' is unruly, it is dark and powerful. This was released on progressive house behemoth Future Sounds Of Egypt. It was the first of a string of releases for Ryan this month.

The second release of the month from Ryan came courtesy of Altra Moda and a collaboration with Matt Kerley and Leandro Da Silva. 'Breathe' is out now and available to download & stream on all major streaming platforms.

Next up, Ryan's vocals and co-writing skills were on show on The Deepshakerz track 'Burning'. The EP is out now on Incorrect Music.

The fourth and final release from Ryan Sewell in November was 'The Saint'. A tried and tested partnership between Ryan and Oz's finest tech house purveyor Alex Preston seen the release of 'The Saint' on Simma Black.

23rd Precinct's recent signing Elliot Chapman gained his first BBC Radio 1 play this month with his track 'Bringing Me Down' with Jess Bays receiving love from R1's Jaguar. The track was also supported by Defected's Sam Dine on her KISS FM residency. Elliot's been a pleasure to work with since joining our roster, his work ethic and commitment to collaborations have really impressed all of us here at 23rd Precinct. Released on Simma Black, check out 'Bringing Me Down' here.

First Run Records art-funkers Fauves released their fourth track on 23rd Precinct's in-house label. 'Spaced Out Face'. The band describe this latest track of their "way of letting loose, it details a rough time in all of our lives, and we hope it makes you wanna boogie and find some catharsis in dance, be that in a kitchen or a club." Spaced Out Face has landed in a number of editorial playlists including Spotify's Hot New Bands & Spotify and Chill.

There was more new music from our writers Luke Hayes, Rhys Buckley & Fran Cosgrave collectively known as Futuristic Polar Bears released 'Wait For You' and 'Rave Anthem'. This pair of releases are classic FPB - tasteful powerhouse EDM. Both tracks were released on Dutch outfit Revealed Recordings.

It was a busy month for our in-house label Limbo Records and label manager Kayleigh McLaughlan and director Billy Kiltie who have both been working tirelessly with a series of recent releases garnering support from BBC Radio1 as well as dance heavyweights. This month brought a release of 92 classic 'Schtoom' by Havanna (Audio Noir Renaissance Remix). You can check it out here. There was another release this month, an original track 'Short Stuff' by Tim French. Available to download here.

David Forbes had two new fresh releases this month. 'Out Of Order' - a collaborative track with Paul Denton is out now on Future Sounds Of Egypt. Powerful, punchy, euphoric and quintessential David Forbes.

His second release of the month 'Randomise' is another stalwart tech trance beauty. Released on 23rd Precinct's Mark Sherry's imprint Outburst Records.

Our writer Rachel Barror released her stunning interpretation of The Bluebells classic 'Young At Heart'. Available to download and stream now.

Rachel also collaborated with Parisian producer Baran Ertem on 'Solaire'. A deep house subtle party pusher released on Sonny Fodera's label Solotoko. Available to stream & download here.

The Bluebells re-released their classic album 'Sisters' on Past Night From Glasgow. Available to purchase on 12" coloured vinyl here.

We also welcomed new signing this month Jim McCulloch to our 23rd Precinct Music Publishing roster. Jim's co-writes includes BMX Bandits, Snowgoose and The Soup Dragons.

There was fabulous news for First Run Records signees Fauves as they scooped Best Rock/Alternative prize at the prestigious Scottish Alternative Music Awards. The sextet fought off tough competition including Dead Pony, Hyyts & Pleasure Heads. A huge huge accomplishment, well done Fauves!

Our writer Calum Ingram received his first BBC Radio2 play with Cerys Matthews supporting his recent release 'Demon Eyes' on her Blues show. A fantastic achievement.
