October 2022 - Monthly Round Up

2022 is drawing to a close but we've got an abundance of music to share before the curtain closes on another year. October proved another busy month with a substantial number of releases involving 23rd Precinct Music songwriters.

We celebrated the songwriting duo Joy Farrukh & Justin Kielty extending their publishing agreements this month. The pair also had more cause for celebration as their collaboration 'If Only You Knew' with electronic heavyweights Steve Lawler & Marco Lys was snapped up by Defected Records. The release received a very warm reception and was supported on BBC Radio 1 courtesy of Sarah Story on her future dance show. Justin & Joy have been hard at work and have a few exciting releases lined up with the biggest names in dance.

Our newest addition to the 23rd family Gary Dillon made his debut on legendary label Casual Jam this month with 'Runaway'. A track co-written with London-based vocalist Larisa Mihaes and Scottish producer/artist Esquire.

Gary enjoyed a packed month as he ventured down to London to write with the likes of Krystal Roxx, Fades and our very own Shena Winchester and Alix Robson.

The unstoppable force that is Scott Forshaw has revelled in a return to pre-pandemic times in Dubai, performing to thousands of club goers in recent weeks. It's been fantastic to see his profile build these past few years and a congratulations also in order for him recently becoming a dad. He teamed up with fellow 23rd'-er Charlie Sanderson on 'Energy' - an aptly named energetic pop dance belter which was signed by Notting Hill Music imprint NHM LLC. The campaign has got off to a fantastic start surpassing 70k Spotify streams in a couple of weeks.

Ryan Sewell launched his brand new collaborative project Prince Street Bodega this month. Working in tandem with America's Black Caviar & DOMENICO, the trio have whipped up a mind-meltingly funky sound and their debut single 'Contagious' is contagious by name & by nature. Straight up toe-tapping funky goodness.

There's a full album's worth dropping over the coming months so make sure to follow on Spotify and be one of the first to hear.

Ryan also released 'Promise Land', the result of a writing session with Ostereo's Eddie Craig earlier in the month. It groovy piano house track which was released on Hardcore Energy.

David Forbes - one of our longest serving clients had a momentous month. For the first time in his career he broke into 1001 Tracks top 100 Producers. The chart which is shaped by peer-to-peer reviewing within the world of DJing saw David not just break in, but smash it into position number 36. He was sandwiched between the likes of Alok, Shermanology and Diplo.

David pretty much never goes a month without releasing music and this month was no different. Making his debut on Armind, he dropped a double AA side single in Threshold/Skream. Check it out here.

One of the UK's most promising names in the tech house scene RETNA released new music this month. Signed to 23rd, Danny Laing aka RETNA has been wowing audiences with his punchy melodic productions and seen his latest project 'Can You Move To The Beat' signed by electronic giants Toolroom Records.
