September 2022 - Monthly Round Up

And just like that we're into the final quarter of another year. September brought some belters from the 23rd Precinct roster including co-writing credits on tracks signed to Perfect Havoc, Distiller & Stress Records to name a few.

Lewis White, Jamie Burns, Matthew McAllister & Mikey Garner, collectively known as Danko released their highly anticipated EP 'Farewell' on indie label Distiller Music. The quartet have enjoyed a recent surge in attention with their scintillating rock 'n' roll taking Scotland by storm. They've enjoyed a fair flurry of press interested and have attracted support following festival performances around Scotland. Farewell is a 4-track EP featuring previously released tracks I Need and Gecko as well as two brand new originals in Weed Farmer and Farewell. They celebrated the release of the EP with a raucous sold out launch party at McChuills in Glasgow.

Stephen Kirkwood teamed up with fellow Scot producer Hannah Laing on techno stomper 'Don't Wanna Go' released in early September on Stress Records. The club track has enjoyed numerous plays on BBC Radio 1 courtesy of Sarah Story, Jaguar & Danny Howard with the former inviting the pair on her show to speak about the track and making it BBC Radio1 Future Dance Track ID. Since its' release 'Don't Wanna Go' has amassed over 150k Spotify streams and landed in editorial playlists galore including Spotify's Operator, Dance Rising, New Music Friday, Electronic Rising and Minimal Tech playlists. It also landed in Apple Music, Amazon, YouTube Music & Beatport editorial pages.

There was more new music from electronic pioneer David Forbes this month. An indisputable leader in the world of electronic, David has sustained a popular across his career which now spans decades - no easy feat. This month he released solo single Decibel on his own label Aria Digital Recordings. That was quickly followed by Factor B's remix of David & Susie Ledges' track Silent Waves - this one was snapped up by John O' Calloghans Subculture.

Our producer Alan La Porte released new music under his Covenants moniker. 'Just A Little' is another stellar addition to Alan's growing catalogue who showcases his impressive eclectic production skills across the world of pop, dance, drum&bass and electronic music. Check out 'Just A Little' out now on Perfect Havoc.

Following a summer which saw Mark Sherry return to his much loved live shows, including various trips across Canada, United States Of America and Europe; he released new music. Systembreaker stepping in and taking care of remix duties of 'Gravitational Waves' - released on Sherry's own label Outburst Records.

Rhys Buckley, Fran Cosgrave & Luke Hayes released two stomping tracks this month. Better known as Futuristic Polar Bears, the trio put collaboration at the heart of their releases teaming up with Jarod Glawe and Jordan Grace on 'Start Of Something'. It is a quintessential FPB release with their characteristic big room EDM production with a nod to the commercial pop realm with soaring vocals from American singer Jordan Grace.

'Before I Go' was the second track released this month by Futuristic Polar Bears. A far more melodic and pop sounding venture featuring the worldly vocals of Mara Cardona and which was snapped up by Sony imprint Disco:Wax.

Mr. Sosa made a triumphant return to NeedWant this month with the stunning new single 'Lost In This Moment'. Giving 6am morning party pleaser energy with angelic vocals and layered syncopated synths, it is undoubtedly one of our favourite releases from Toby Woodhouse, aka Mr. Sosa.

We also enjoyed a few 23rd Precinct writers/producers indulging in some cover projects. Richie Blacker taking on the iconic dance class 'Smalltown Boy' made famous by Bronski Beat.

Our very own Ryan Sewell teamed up with fellow Ostereo management client Tom Enzy on 'The Underdog' made famous by The Game & 50 Cent. It was a month in which Ryan also celebrated more milestone achievements for his songwriting cut on 'In The Dark' by Purple Disco Machine and Sophie & The Giants. Certified Gold in Germany & Poland and Platinum in Italy, Belgium and The Netherlands - an incredible achievement.
